2011 World Wide Green Smoothie Challenge

You may be asking, "A green smoothie?"  My answer is "YES! And they are fantastical."  Starting on January 3, 2011 (or sooner if you'd like) you can join people from around the globe in a life changing cleansing adventure to kick-start your New Year and your journey towards optimal health! Here are a few of my tips to help you prepare for the Challenge.

  1. Buy a good blender. I dream of someday owning a Vitamix or Blendtec, but the reality is that you don't need a fancy $400 blender to make a green smoothie.  I use a $30 Oster and blend for a bit longer on a high speed to make sure the consistency is super smooth.
  2. Stock up on organic produce. Check out your local farmer's market or health food store to pick out a few kinds of organic greens (kale, spinach, romaine, etc) and other produce for your green smoothies. It's a good idea to switch up your greens every few days. Stay armed with produce!
  3. Aim for one 16-ounce green smoothie daily. Green smoothies are great for breakfast or even as a snack.  Enjoy them any time of day and know that you're getting a treat chocked full of chlorophyll and nutrients to feed your body's cells.
  4. Try new recipes.  Check out GreenSmoothieChallenge.com, Victoria Boutenko's book Green for Life, Angela's website GreenMonsterMovement.com and also GreenSmoothieQueen.com for ideas and recipes to keep you on track.

If you plan on joining me and countless others around the globe in this healthy challenge, please leave a comment below.  We can support each other along the way. I'm looking forward to drinking a green smoothie a day for the month of January!

*cheers*

Benefits of Face Brushing

You've heard me talk about Body Brushing and all the wonderful health and beauty benefits that come along with it, but what about Face Brushing? You can brush your face and neck and get the same type of benefits as body brushing delivers! Facial brushing removes dead skin and stimulates circulation , which firms and improves skin tone . Your skin will become softer and smoother ! It's like a mini facial massage every time you brush, a fabulous way to spoil yourself during your daily facial cleaning routine. In order to do the face brushing sequence you need a small natural-fiber bristle brush . The important thing to look for when selecting the appropriate face brush are natural plant fiber bristles. Do not use the type with plastic bristles because it will not have the same effect. I'm excited to announce that T-Tapp now sells  face brushes ! In addition to the Body Brushing Sequence,  Teresa Tapp created a special Face Brushing Sequence that has...

Amazing Eats at Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen

Last night I had the most fabulous meal with my sista at Pappadeaux in Atlanta. She's been keeping this place a secret from me! We get there around 8pm and find out that she knows the hostess from way back. (Our buzzer literally went off after about 5 minutes when there was over a 40 minute wait for a table. VIP!) The first thing that we ordered was the most delicious dip I have EVER put in my mouth, hands down! Lump Crab & Spinach Dip with crispy garlic cheese bread ...OMG. I could eat that by itself and call it a night. I saw a woman with this drink and had to order one for myself. It's called a Swamp Thing made from a mix of raspberry and melon liqueurs blended with frozen Hurricane & Margarita . Fantastic! Brain freeze though. I hate to admit that even though I'm a Florida girl, I've never had oysters before . She was shocked and insisted that we order some. Her favorites were the Oysters Baton Rouge - oysters on the half shell baked with a Parm...

Hiking at Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield

I got my outdoor fitness on today!   Went with the boys and pups to Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield and walked/hiked around the area (using T-Tapp techniques , of course).  I'm thinking we trekked about 3-5 miles.  The mountain terrain was a bit challenging and I really felt my legs working it!  The monument pictured below was built in 1914 and located at the top of the battlefield mountain.  I love going to places with history - and the area was truly beautiful! Here's a little history for ya: Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield is a 2,923 acre National Battlefield that preserves a Civil War battleground of the Atlanta Campaign. The battle was fought here from June 19, 1864 until July 2, 1864. Sherman's army consisted of 100,000 men, 254 guns and 35,000 horses. Johnston's army had 63,000 men and 187 guns. Over 67,000 soldiers were killed, wounded and captured during the Campaign. When we got home I stuffed my face with ate the leftovers from ...
